Our esteemed panel will focus on DRAFTING for generation-skipping transfer, HIPAA limitations, difference in Hawaii & federal estate tax exclusion amounts, residence held in trust, using & drafting joint trusts, provisions to address cryptocurrency, including NFTs & e-wills, e-signing & remote online notarization.

Joy Miyasaki

Joy Miyasaki is a partner at Carlsmith Ball LLP.  She practices in the areas of tax and estate planning, asset protection, charitable planning and tax-exempt organizations, trust and estate administration, trust and estate disputes and litigation, and tax disputes and litigation.  Joy is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, listed in Chambers & Partners' Private Wealth Law rankings, and recognized by Best Lawyers, including being named Honolulu "Lawyer of the Year" in trusts and estates, tax law, and tax litigation and controversy.  Joy has been actively involved in many professional and community organizations, including serving as President of the Hawaii Estate Planning Council in 2011.  She teaches estate planning as an adjunct professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law.  She received her A.B. and J.D. from Georgetown University.  

Judy Yuriko Lee, CFP®

Judy Lee is a partner in the law firm of Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, A Limited Liability Law Partnership LLP, and the Practice Group leader of the Goodsill firm’s Trusts, Estates and Family Business Group.  Her practice includes estate planning, trust administration, and estate and trust dispute resolution.  She is a graduate of Santa Clara University, where she received a Juris Doctor (summa cum laude) and a Masters of Business Administration.  She has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, and has been recognized with a listing in Best Lawyers in America every year since 2006.  She received the honor of being named Best Lawyers' 2014-2015 Honolulu Trusts and Estates "Lawyer of the Year" and Best Lawyers’ 2020-2021 Honolulu Trusts and Estates – Litigation “Lawyer of the Year.”  Judy is recognized in Chambers & Partners Private Wealth Law-Hawaii as a Band 1 ranked attorney.  Judy is a fellow with the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”) and is currently serving as the Hawaii State Chair of ACTEC.  Judy also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Baptist Foundation and is a director of the USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc.  She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law.  Judy is also a Certified Financial Planner®.

Randall M.L. Yee

Randall Yee is a partner with the law firm of Yee & Kawashima, LLLP.  His practice concentrates in estate, individual, business and real estate tax planning.  Mr. Yee is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  He is also a member of the Tax and PEP Sections of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the Tax Section of the American Bar Association.  Mr. Yee is a member of the Hawaii Estate Planning Council and a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel.  Mr. Yee is a graduate of Iolani School, the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and the William S. Richardson School of Law in Honolulu, Hawaii.
