Unbeknownst to most, the COVID relief bill passed at the end of 2020 included some significant changes to the FAFSA. These changes will likely be a huge disruption in the college planning landscape that will require new strategies for your clients. There are distinct winners and losers with the new legislation. These changes sit on top of the massive changes to the college process in the last 2 years, including how colleges award scholarships, ACT testing cancellations and rules for how/when colleges can offer deals to families.

This presentation will educate advisors around the impact the changing landscape will have on their clients and provide opportunities to be able to work with multiple generations!

Learning Objectives:

  1. How FAFSA is used by colleges and the Federal Government
  2. How FAFSA changes will impact families with multiple kids in college or where parents are divorced
  3. How FAFSA changes will shift potential savings strategies
  4. How does the FAFSA actually impact the merit aid process

Topic:  Bitcoin:  Wave of the Future or Speculative Play?

The cryptocurrency bitcoin hit an all-time high in early 2021, prompting many investors and investmentprofessionals to consider whether it is appropriate for their portfolios. Several key considerations will be discussed.  It has been through several boom and bust price cycles, with the latest boom occurring during a period of increased interest in risk assets among investors.  The rise of populism and antigovernment sentiment has increased the interest in cryptocurrencies that operate outside of the traditional financial system.  Policymakers are circling seeking to tighten the regulatory frameworks & centralize oversight.  There is a large and growing ecosystem of crypto exchanges, banks and service providers looking for ways to innovate the space.  A huge amount of energy must be generated to run the high speed computers.  Is it here to stay?
