FPA of Hawaii is a regional chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA®), the national leadership and advocacy organization representing the financial planning community. Based in Denver, Colo., FPA represents more than 25,000 members nationwide and is involved in all facets of providing financial planning services and works in alliance with academic leaders, legislative and regulatory bodies, financial services firms and consumer interest organizations.
FPA’s Primary Aim is to be the community that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the financial planning profession. Whereas the public expects to experience a high level of confidence, trust and clarity in relationships with professionals trained in the distinct process and discipline of financial planning, it is essential that they obtain a commitment of professional care, quality and excellence in the services they receive.
FPA holds that its members deliver financial planning services in accordance with the following Standard of Care:
- Put the client's best interests first.
- Act with due care and in utmost good faith.
- Do not mislead clients.
- Provide full and fair disclosure of all material facts.
- Disclose and fairly manage all material conflicts of interest.

FPA's individual members include financial planners, many of whom hold the CFP® certification or are pursuing CFP® certification. Other individual members include practitioners such as accountants, attorneys, bankers, charitable giving specialists, insurance agents, stockbrokers, money managers, investment consultants, broker-dealer and corporate executives, and others who champion the financial planning process
